A better way Bill is to use a Gradual gray Neutral density filter. It won't change the colors at all but will darken things just enough to keep fromm blowing out the highlights. And they are adjustable. I especially like the Cokin ones as the can be moved up and down as well as rotated to just the position needed! The A series will work for lenses up to about 62mm!
