One of my friend's has visited and brought a Kodak camera. He told me his USB cord doesn't work to charge the machine and it needs something to give a 5volt power supply.

The only information he has given me is that the screen is 3 inches and that he is able to use a dock he bought with a previous Kodak machine. I'm guessing that the camera is the M883m, although I could be wrong.

Do Kodak cameras use a special USB cord? Would any USB cord with a mini-USB end work?

In a quick search the only two Kodaks that have ~3" screens are the M883 and the V1253. Reading the web spec. it appears that an adapter is used with the USB cable for charging on the M883. The V1253 appears to use the same USB for file transfer and for charging.
