Default 6490 - Can't Avoid Red Eye

I'm experiencing red eye in 98% of the photos I've taken indoors (all in the same location). I'm wondering if this is a problem with the camera design, my technique or that the indoor lighting was slightly on the dim side and it's likely pupils were already dilated?

it has to do with the lighting. Try increasing the lighting in the room
