Default kodak digicams??

i've been reading lots and lots of camera reviews here as i am about to purchase my first digicam. i was leaning towards the obvious choices (canon, nikon and olympus). it seems though that most reviewers (including) really rave about the image quality of the kodak cameras. are they really that good? if so, why? i know kodak has been around forever but i didn't think they made quality digicams. my main needs will be family shots (indoors and outdoors) with the occasional nature shots. should i consider the kodak family?

Yes you should!!!! I have one myself and one thing I like about it (interestingly one of the cons of Kodak cams according to many people here) is the color saturation. Some people say it is artificially increased by the camera. All I know is that prints (from a photo-lab) come out very crisp with vivid colors, something I like in my pictures. They look real enough for me.
