As a quick note...

Myself and my wife are both very new to cameras in general and have a DX7630. The 7630 and 7590 share the same menues and features and we are extremely happy with them. The scene modes are very useful IMO and help this to be a great beginner to intermediate users camera. So, I'd suggest a step to the 7590 if you are looking for good zoom or the 7630 for great pictures and camera options but can live without the zoom.
