Does anyone know if using an external flash also drains the digi cam battery quickly as using the on-camera flash??

Can only speak for mine. The flash I use is a slave flash that operates with it's own batteries or from an AC adapter. Doesn't use the cxamera's flash. Some addon or auxilliary flashes use the camera's battery as a power supply and in so doing(since they are more powerful than the Camera's flash) should drain the battery quicker!
