Having recently purchased a Refurbished CX7430, I reviewed, side-by-side on my 17" monitor with the images displayed at "original size", Steve'sSample images from each of these two cameras. Fortunately, they were taken within minutes of each other as he seemed to have both cameras for testing on the same day (per their EXIF data), so that avoided weather and lighting differences.

He rated the LS743 as having "Excellent" images, while the CX7430 was said to have just "Good" images.

Try as I might, I cannot see any meaningful quality differences in the images from the two cameras, except for a slight softening down the right hand side in the desktop Macro image from the CX7430.

Can anyone tell me why the two lenses (Retinar on the CX vs Schneider on the LS) would get such a distinctly different rating when they produce such similar images: color, contrast, general overall resolution, etc.
