I recently purchased a Kodak Z740. I bought a 1GB card so that I could keep other pics on there. Well, in transferring an image from my harddrive onto the card, the Kodak now picks up the next image # from theimage that I copied onto the card (taken with a Canon digital). So, now instead of my next image # being 100_0055, it is 100_6342. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get that original image # back ! I still use the other Canon camera, and don't like the idea of having the image #'s so common. Kodak wasn't any help at all

One long solution would be to transfer all your pics off the card to your computer or somewhere else for a minute and reformat your card. Then take a pic and see if the numbering starts over. If it does and you move the other pics back, it SHOULD stick with the sequential new numbering, but don't quote me on that.
I know since I've put the firmware update on my 850 my image numbers have reset themselves.

Hope this helps.....and works.
