Default O.K. But still no manual focus on my 7i

I see now the setting for the magnify button, all good there. BUT turning the barrel ring in Manual Focus still does nothing, no adjustment in focus and the distance figure read out on screen doesn't change as I turn the focus....just stays the same....will firmware fix this or do I need to send this thing in for repairs or what???????????

1. Did you press the AF/MF button on the left side of the camera? An MF should show up in the EVF (bottom right corner)... the camera is now in manual focus mode.

2. After you 1/2 pressed the shutter release in the AF autofocus mode, a DMF icon will light up in the EVF and this will also allow you to manually overide the AF with the focusing ring without having to switch the camera to the manual AF mode first like in the previous step. The distance reading should be updating as you twist the manual focusing ring. (BTW, DMF = Direct Manual Focus overide)

Actually this is one of the nicest feature regarding the D7's series. ie you can do the same thing on a Canon 10D with USM lenses @ 3 times the cost! Now let see how to get that WYSIWYG feature on this dSLR...
