Default S404 or S414?

Does anyone knows what is the difference between these 2 cameras. I wanted to buy S404, while S414 appears.
Please help!

Default Specs

The following web pages are Minolta spec sheets.

Appears to be differences in color modes, filter settings, contrast settings, Exif print, amount of frames that 16meg CF card can hold. Also, Minolta can't seem to figure out what "effective pixels" means. Image sizes are identical in both cameras. Most, if not all, differences appear to be in firmware.

Many S404 owners complain of an autofocus problem, and are thirsting for a firmware upgrade. Maybe the S414 is really only a firmware upgrade.

I just bought an S414 for $399 at a local, reputable camera shop. They were also offering the remaining S404 inventory at $399. Web prices also do not appear to be significantly different. It just didn't make sense to me to buy the 404.

PS: I have only taken about 100 pics or so, but up to now I haven't noticed an Autofocus problem.

The 414 is faster than the 404, and with little or no price difference, it makes sense to go for the 414. It's the best buy on a 4 MP camera you'll find.
