Default HELP! Going from a Canon S-45 to a Minolta 414....

Lost my Canon. What changes (good or bad) can I expect to notice? I know the 414 is not as compact, but I like the 4x zoom. I crop and enlarge to 8x10 in RAW mode in the Canon, and pix seem to be awfully good. Am I going to be disappointed with this switch????

well, u may miss the raw mode as the only uncompressed on s414 is tiff that takes forever, and the cf2, not to mention the lowlight assist. Despite these few small points, everything i've heard about the s414 has been good. It appears to be an excellent fun to use camera with great images that can be printed with no editing and yeild superior results if that is desired. Will you miss the s45? Sure, the s414 is a slight step down, but will you be unhappy with the s414, i highly doubt it.

same here, they both have something to offer.
after using my D60 for the last year i really felt the need for a snap shot camera. naturally being i was now using the Canon, i felt that the Canon P&S's were the only choice and i tried the S45.
it's a darned nice camera, but the images never seemed as sharp as the ones i use to get from the S404 i had a year ago. i took it back and got the 414.
now the wife uses it and loves it for it's as easy to use as a disposable............if it gets her into phtography, then so much the better.
