Hi Kylie ....it's only a guess, but ....... doesn't the camera go into what's called "PC Mode" when you connect it to the USB port? This might look like it has switched itself off ......but it hasn't really. A scan through your user manual might help here.
You should be able to "see" the camera on the PC in "My Computer" as a new device ...usually a removable drive. Copy the pictures into your favorite place (My Pictures?) from the camera (Drive D: or Drive E: etc). The usual advice is not to delete the pictures off the memory card using the computer ......do it from the camera. I think quite a lot of digital camera users like to use a card reader rather than a USB lead, but there are pro's and con's for both methods. Hope this help ...if not get back to the forum with more details. Cheers, KK. |

PC Mode worked with my XP, steps as follows:
1. Turn on the camera by opening the slide 2. Press [MODE] and keep pressing until menu appears. 3. Press [ARROW] to select the "PC" option. 4. Press [SET] button when "PC" is selected. 5. Press [SET] again while "Mass Storage" is highlighted. 6. The USB icon flashes. 7. Connect the USB cable now. 8. Camera screen turns black and your computer will show "Removable Disk (x " dialog box.The rest would be Windows stuff. In my XP, FashionCam USB Device appears. Advice you to copy but not to delete from Windows Explorer. You have to delete files from the camera itself, preferably by formatting. Hope that helps. Cheers! |

rmohhas given very clear instructions above ...do you still have a problem even after following his instructions? Can you see his instructions? Get back to us if the problem is not solved. No driver needed for WinXP.
Cheers, KK. |
