I might as well post this before the links go away.
Contax firmware is available here: http://www.kyocera.co.jp/prdct/optic...l300rt_dl.html And Kyocera firmware is here: http://www.kyocera.co.jp/prdct/optic...sl300r_dl.html The fun part is mixing and matching. I have loaded the Contax firmware on my Kyocera. It was fun to play around with for a day or so. I am curious to see what happens if you load the Kyocera firmware on a Contax. Tips for the adventurous. Set up the file structure on your memory card as specified on each page. When you want to go back you have to use the folder names specified on the page of your current firmware. So the names of the folders are different when changing the firmware and changing it back. I had an anxious moment trying to get my Kyocera firmware back! I think there is something special you have to do to get to the update firmware menu in the camera. If you really want to do this you'll know how already or if you translate one of the pages from japanese I think it's in there somewhere. Results. I noticed two things about the images when I was running my Kyocera on Contax firmware. The shadows were darker and the sky in the outdoor pictures tended to be a bit on the purple side. So if you have a Contax and want lighter shadows and, um, different skies, well, give it a try. Do I have to put warnings and disclaimers here? Hey, it worked for me for a day, if it doesn't work for you, well, buy another camera. I might even sell you mine... |

Hallo,
This is my first post. I followed your advice:"The fun part is mixing and matching. I have loaded the Contax firmware on my Kyocera. It was fun to play around with for a day or so. I am curious to see what happens if you load the Kyocera firmware on a Contax." butI applied Contax SL300RT firmware to Kyocera S5R. Result: my camera is dead! In my opinion, if you succesfully implemented Contax firmware to Kyocera, moreover, if you found a right way to change name of catalogues and files in order to reach a goal, you are an expert. My question is simple; isthere any possibilityto reset firmware to original ( factory)? Some cameras have a "reset button"(e.q.Contax TVS digital). Besides that, I don't know what type of ROM contains Kyocera S5R.I'll be very grateful for some help ! Regards Robert from Warsaw |

Kyocera Kid, please look here: http://www.fotoplaneta.pl/aparaty-cy...8464913cffd85e I am a girl from the same country where Robert lives, but from other city. I had read this tread some days ago cause i have exactly the same problem with firmware. When I'm back here today, its appeared that Robert asked for help I need! Amazing... Today Robert sent me e-mail. Its funny, he is waiting for my problem solution here and there, while im waiting there and here :? As you can see, someone is trying to help me on polish Fotoplaneta Forum, but his knowledge concerning Kodak and other cameras, not Kyocera, so I'm afraid we cannot solve the problem at Fotoplaneta (you will be able to get sense without knowledge of polish language I hope). Kyocera Kid, would you explain us please, where can we get info about magical buttons combination so that Kyocera could read its card with its factory firmware? I was trying to translate both linked sites, but Altavista babelfish and some other online translators cannot translate them for me. "here.... somewhere"... - it would be helpful if it works. Unfortunately it doesn't. I can't figure out what to press down and for how long. As I assumed there are no other ways than magical combination of buttons. Am I right? m0nika. |

Hello m0nika and Robert.
I will try to help. I understand your problem. You want to know how to reset the firmware to the original settings on your S5R. I must start by saying that I know little about the firmware of the camera. On my Contax SL300RT* and my Kyocera M410R, there is a setting on the "set up" menu that says "Mode reset". If the S5R has this setting it might work, but it may use the default settings of the updated firmware. I don't know if it will work, but it is worth a try. In UK there is a service agent for Contax Cameras ..... Alpha Digital Services Ltd,who use an associate Camera Repair business for Contax and Kyocera camera repairs.Alpha Digitalmay be able to ask the Camera Repair business for advice. You can contact them at ..... service@alphadigitalservices.co.uk Good luck. KK |
