However, from your comments it was a "moody" sort of day, so lets try B&w, this is a basic desaturation on the red channel:

That wasn't bad, but lacks a bit of punch. So lets add some good old fashioned burn, just about 8% opacity, big soft brush, and applied to shadows. It's been done in a rush, so there's some bleed around the edges of the mountain, but I actually rather like this version :-) Not so extreme as Ansel Adam's work, but I'm sort of trying to head this in his direction: not that there's much chance of my reaching his hights mind you!!!

Anyway, see what you think.

Jake, You did an A+ job IMO adjusting the image. The white snow is white, sky appears to be the right blue for a cold fall day, and you did not over-saturate the colors. It looksreal, like I'm there, but not overreaching. A first rate job. Are you for hire? :-)
