Default Ship has gone!

Dear Everybody,

You got a greenhorn on the board from Hungary! Actually I'm an absolutely amateur, however I'm always eager to learn. I shot this photo on my honeymoon in turkey last year. I like the feeling of the photo with the man standing on the pier and watching the ship passing by. (it is possible that I'm alone in the universe with this opinion) I would be very curious what does a professional think about it, what are the downsides, and how should I do it next time?

All your comments are welcome and highly appreciated

Well, I'm no pro, but I'll comment anyway.

Like Gimli says, I like the color in the sky. Very nice.

Part of me wishes you had taken the picture from closer in. Include the same physical elements (boat, dock, man) but make it tighter. I don't just want a crop; I want things closer & larger. This would make the man larger and make his physical stance and mood have more prominence.

The downside of this change would be that the sense of isolation, of the man all alone just standing there, would be less. And I think that adds to the picture. So in the end, I’m not sure which picture would be better…. But it would be interesting to see them both and compare.

Another comment from another amateur.
The overall elements are great and the sky just lends the right amount of warmth and solitude.

Like eric said if you want a picky comment, the objects in the picture and just a tad too small.
