Default sunset with birds

Took this one a few days ago while leaving a Nation Wildlife Refuge. I like the colors and the ducks a lot, but it is a bit traditional. I considered a smaller crop, but I liked the breath of the sky and the changes in color and brightness. Tell me what you think!

PS: selective sharpening (not the birds), crop, reduce & border.

Aloha.

For my tastes the sun is too distracting and I wonder how it would look with this cropped out.

Otherwise nice pic great colours

Thanks for all the kind words.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the entire sun... so I can't put it back.

I think a crop up near the first large cloud bank would work (to remove the sun) but then the focus becomes the birds and they are a bit small to my tastes... But I see the point. Interesting. This is why I post.

Now that I compare the birds to the original, you're right about the white edges. I actually went to great pains to not sharpen the birds (fun with the magic want tool) because they looked really bad when I just sharpened the entire sunset. I'll have to think about how to sharpen the scene without causing that white border to appear. I guess I really have to learn more about USM... it does a better job than just strait up "sharpen".

Thanks again for the comments,

Eric
