Took this photo a while back. Tweaked it a little bit but not too much - it was a very red sky that night.

Any merit? Any suggestions for next time?

I'm afraid I have to agree, the coulurs look a little to oversaturated, a little goes a long way in PS. Great location though!

I also have another slight niggle with the shot and that's with regard the composition. The angle of the pier tends to lead the eye out of the shot, if you could recompose with the pier at the other side of the frame I personally feel it would make for amuch better shot.

Hope this helps,

Matt :-)

Very tranquil feel! I alsoliked the branchframing thetop left corner as well asestablishing a sense ofrelation between the opposite side of the waterand the foreground...

Btw, I can't help but agree with Matt's suggestion. I just wanted toshare how a change in composition concerning the angle of the pier would change things. Hope you don't mind

Here's the original, no Photoshop work (only resized to 800 x 600). It really was quite red that night!

Thanks for the reply, and the suggestion - I'll have to install my pier on the opposite angle next spring!:G

The changing of the angle of the pier to the right definitely strengthens the''attitude'' of this picture. However, the left frame of the pictureseemsa bit 'heavy'' with the three elements: pier, clump oftrees across the lake and the tree above that.If the tree was moved to the right side of the framewould it have been okay to leave the pierpointing to the left as its lines would have complimented the horizon of the lake? If the treeis moved to the rightwill the right-pointing pier upset the balance of thepicture?

Cheers,

Andrew

I prefer your unprocessed image more than the original, which appears oversharpened to me. Lovely scene....cheers......Don
