so, a couple of weeks ago, i had two 20"x30" prints (just a teensy bit smaller than A1 size) made of my "October Reflection" photo; i kept one for myself, and took the other to a gallery i have some other stuff on consignment with. well, the gallery owner called me today to tell me she'd already sold it! she'd barely had it a week, hadn't even had time to frame and display it, before someone came in and wanted to buy it! she told me, "you HAVE to get me another print of that!" needless to say, i will be ordering more today! this is exciting, since i'm not a professional or anything close to it...
here's the image again...

Hello squirl! I love this photo more each time I see it! I have seen professional work that don't even come close to this, photography may not be your main source of income but you are a pro in my book!

That's great news squirl, well done and congratulations. It is certainly well deserved in my opinion.

I think there are a lot of very good amateur photographers out their squirl, yourself included, who take just as good landscape photos as the "pros". I have been into some commercial photo galleries and come out thinking "Ho, humm. I've got photos just as good or better than those". It's just that huge photographic leap of faith from "hobby" to "livelihood" that scares us and keeps us in a regular steady job. :-)

Cheers, Ollie

thanks, Ollie... i think you're right. that whole "starving artist" thing doesn't really appeal to most people, myself included!

Congrats Squirl, that's a great shot. Well deserved, but refering to yourself as an amateur is the biggest misnomer I have read in a long while!
