The forest fires were thick and heavy. They are the cause of the smoky haze in this valley in August 2006. I thought the sunset made for nice light on the forest. This is home to the rare grizzly bear. The forest is home to many rare bird and animal species, the mountain cliffs home to bighorn sheep, mountain goats and golden eagles. Woodpeckers and goshawks fly from the tops of these trees to the other tall trees.
