My son has just acquired a Sony Ericsson K810i mobile phone, and I've just managed to extract his first images from him & the phone , taken on a character-building backpacking trip in the nearby Clwyd Hills a week ago, with 13 other 15-year-olds, all female!. On the skyline at the left can be seen the 3000-foot (big by British standards) mountains of Snowdonia, about 40 miles away.

Here is a whole 2048x1536 frameresized to 800x600 and sharpenedin Paint Shop Pro with the default 'sharpen'.

EXIF data from the image...

Model: K810i
Orientation: Top / left side
Date taken: 14 July 2007 13:08:22
Exposure time [s]: 1/1250
Exposure mode: Auto
Exposure bias [EV]: 0.0
F-Number: F2.8
ISO value: 80
Subj. distance range: Distant view (chosen bythe camera, not my son, so far as he is aware)
Flash: Not fired, auto mode
Metering mode: Center weighted average
White balance: Auto

Ah! Character-building is the very thing especially at these ages :-)

Beautiful landscape

Btw, I didn't know these mobile phones had selectable metering modes! They might even put cmos sensors in them soon: )

It was very well built with continuous heavy rain & much mud throughout their whole first day, characteristic of the summer here so far.

Day 2 (shown above)was excellent. Remarkably for teenagers, they took the supervisor's advice and started at 06:15 GMT next day to finish just before the downpours restarted as forecast at 14:00.

Here is an image of the pre-expedition briefing (in the rain). I'm sorry it fits poorly in this forum.

I'm afraid I can't show you any images of the actual expedition (a) because our hero only got the one shot on this glorious day before his battery ran out, his fellow travellers having flattened the battery with many flash shots playing withthe new toyin the tent the evening before; and (b) because of privacy issues with school students. Even the teachers sometimes have difficulty gaining parental permission to use images in presentations to entice new students to join the training scheme.

However there's another character-building expedition for which I can post landscape photo, as I shall explain shortly.
