it took me a few minutes when i first saw this to realize why i like it, then it hit me... there are no people! this is simply nature - rocks, sand, sea and sky - with none of the trappings of humanity that seem to clutter most beaches. no people, no bottles, no soda cans, no old shoes or fishing floats or bits of plywood... just a pristine shore as clean and natural as it was thousands of years ago. hard to believe that two hundred yards behind me when i took this shot, there were motels, houses, cars, streets and tourists...

Beautiful shot! Now that you mention it, it is pretty difficult to get a photo without any trace of mankind.

Great photo. Desolation/isolation. Somewhat pre apocalyptic, if that´s logically possible.

(A little over sharpened foreground perhaps)

wish i could! but this beach is part of the Coquille Point National Wildlife Reserve, located at Bandon, Oregon. people live on the bluffs overlooking the beach. and there's a motel not 200 yards from where i took this shot... which makes it all the more amazing that the beach was so deserted, i suppose.... but it's not the kind of place people go to let little Timmy splash in the water and turn Fido loose to soil the sand... it's a different sort of visitor, i think... people who come here seem to have moer respect for the land, the sea, and the natural world. there is hope yet!

That's how true, Don! For life is, in fact, perception !
