I caught this early morning fog filling the Arkansas River Valley which separates the Ouachita Mountains from the Ozarks in western Arkansas. This shot is taken from the northern edge of the Ouachita National Forest with the Ozarks in the background as we began our descent into the valley.

This will be a truly spectacular sight in about two weeks when the leaves turn.

I hope to get back into this area of the mountains in a couple of weeks, but I doubt I'll get lucky enough to get the fog bank over the valley. That was a lucky confluence of an unusual amount of fog and being able to pop out above it as I went through the mountains on a school bus (taking my tennis team to a tournament).

But, I will post some Fall color when we get some. (If we get some....the summer was so dry, we might just skip Fall colors and the leaves fall directly off the trees--we've had a couple of Falls like that recently.)

Dale,

This is taken on Highway 7 about 15 miles south of Russellville....just at the north edge of the Ouachita National Forest.

Hi Paul (another Paul!)

Thanks for sharing your shot. I think you've done well to capture this one. "Beds of fog" on an otherwise crisp morning have a special feel to them... and the road leading to it draws the eye in well.

Colours are nice and richly saturated.

I've seen many similar fog scenes both in Tasmania where I grew up and in Transylvania, where I lived for the past 4 years. but here in Adelaide where we live now... we only get fog very rarely... about once or twice a year, though in the nearby Adelaide hills it is more frequent!

Thanks for your photo..

regards

Paul
