Default The Twin Barns

All,

I want to first say "Thank-you" to everyone who posts and reads here. Your help has been tremendous since I signed up here. I have learned so much in my time here.

This weekend there is a festival going on in my home town. On a lark I asked my mom to take two photos that I gave her down and enter them in the amateur photo contest. I was stunned to find out this evening that I won!

The photos I submitted where of "The Twin Barns". The place belonged to my grandparents for years. I took the photos this past January on the morning of my Uncle Joe's funeral.

I am not sure which one won the contest but here they both are:

Kind of picture Emre called 'an image with a story behind' in his tread 'old beautiful houses'. Even reminded me of Propp's* structure, which fits the underlying story somehow: The barns belonged to 'the family' for years, their photo (the magic object) was taken by the grandchild (the donor), and the competition was won by the daughter with the magic object that had been provided.
Btw, I should I say I liked the de-centered silhouette beyond which the January sun trying to get bright as it asceds...Thanks for sharing.

I'll double Bob,
Both are deserved to win.

I also believe that an inherent story lies in some pictures where doesn't necessarily need to be known by others. I think one can realize it if he/she has an open mind and awareness.
Your photographs has success in telling a story. The grief in your shots are easily seen as nobody may claim finding joy in them.

Great job.
