Default Elbow Falls, Kananaskis, Alberta

I've wanted to come check this place out for awhile now and was able to after work today. It's about an hour southwest of Calgary.

7 photos stitched with cs4

5dmII, 24 - 70 2.8, ISO 50

Default Awesom!

Stupendous, aweinspiring, almost a bit intimidating looking down that iceclad gorge, but a beautifully captured fall! Beautiful light on that silky water.

All those shades of icy white and the other steely colors. Very, very nice, spy! It's not often a square-format does it for me, but this one does.

Well done.

Kevin,

Yes, way to go. The Ice. Fantastic image. Slow running water

(Bought and tried the 24-70. Very sharp but impossible for me to keep steady so traded back the 24-105 IS that never has been sharp. Sadly so)

Excellent shot flawlessly assembled with 7 shots. Its the kind of picture that no matter how much you see, you always want to see more. Good one Spy.

Increadible Spy, my eye seem to follow the water and when the picture stops, my eyes just keep on flowing down to Walter_S's comment...

Lovely composition of colours and movement and flawless stitching.

Hi, Spy. I also live where lakes freeze and am almost certain water still manages to flow somehow -- this photograph is a stunning way of showing me. It's gorgeous! One weekend when my wife and I are brave enough to venture out into the cold we'll take a similar photo.

This will be my first time making a suggestion -- I still feel I am not qualified (and never will be) -- but I thought the reflection on the pond might be a little too bright. So out of curiousity I copied and pasted the image into Photoshop Elements, selected the glare, then darkened the highlights to 61%. To my surprise, reflections showed up on the surface and there were actually little ripples on it. I could post the result of my little experiment but with your permission first.

Here is what I came up with. It may be more just my personal preference...
