What method did you use VV. What I did was clone out some of the sun and its flare and then replaced new sun and flare with Knoll Light Factory by Digital Anarchy. And Bob's your uncle. Your fix is spot on. Great job.

I created a big circular selection around the sun including its glare then set the feather width to around 25. I then slid the Gaussian blur control to a high value -- I think 60 or up -- until I saw the glare that I wanted. Then I created another circular selection but much smaller this time to approximate the size of the sun. I set feather to around 20. Then I used PSE’s Enhance->Adjust Lighting->Levels and slid the Input Levels control all the way to zero to make the sun bright.

I have not heard of Knoll Light Factory until now. I actually thought your sun was better because it had a certain atmosphere around it, as opposed to my “photoshopped”-looking version, so, thanks, Bynx!

Knoll light factory is good. You control the size of the light with many pre made shapes and colors. Each has its own flare characteristics so there is something for everyone. Easy to use and gives a natural looking look to the shot.

MACKPUDGIES, my son and I were basically feeling the same way... we were both looking #1. vvcarpio has really taken a nice shot.. what an array of different clouds. The now is realistic... Some pictures sort bring the image to you... I think our friend here has a few pictures that bring you into the picture, sort of speak. All the best. Ned

Thanks a lot, MACKPUDGIES and Ned! Those clouds were what motivated me to go out and start shoveling my driveway early .

Bynx, Knoll Light Factory costs $400. Its website says, "Created by John Knoll, Photoshop co-creator and Star Wars effects guru...". If it weren't for your testimonial, I would have dismissed it as steeply-priced only because of the author's credentials. It must be really good. And I did clone-stamp a couple of flares in my shots. But first things first -- I and my wife still need good hiking boots so we don't risk breaking our ankles when shooting in the Catskills...
