Both sets of photos, yours and your wife's, are stunning. I really like the more textured look the water has in your wife's Bastion Falls pic!

Cheers

Thank you all, my wife and I appreciate all your comments.

#10) When you see this sawed log, you might not see it yet but you're already at the falls. You can see two trail markers -- yellow buttons on trees -- in this photo.

#11) Two guys were taking turns crossing the creek on top of one of these felled logs when we passed. Another one was videotaping them. They were all laughing except for the one who's crossing. I thought then it's preferable to see the youth get rowdy in this natural setting than in the couch in front of the flatscreen with controllers in their hands.

Thanks a lot, schent1 and Mark. It was actually very windy when we went there. I'm glad the moving leaves didn't have much of a blurry effect.

Two more pics my wife took:

#12) Bottom of Kaaterskill Falls.

#13) Route 23A facing away from where we came from (which is Interstate 87 that goes from New York City all the way to Quebec in Canada). Parking (free) is 0.1 mile further up this road. And if you keep going then turn right at the town of Haines Falls, in about 8 minutes you'd reach another scenic spot in the Catskills -- North-South Lake.

Thanks, lomitamike.

#14) Hikers scurry and clamber on top of rocks forgetting the long, arduous trek once they reach the falls.

these are excellent! i'd be one of those stopping frequently to catch my breath, i'm afraid, and it might take me longer than younger folks with more stamina, but the terrain's not much different from a lot of the places i go in the hills east of Seattle. i just take my time, and i get there. and for that kind of views, it's worth it!
