Default Highland Lakes State Park, Orange County

I went to Highland Lakes State Park, a 3,000-acre undeveloped state park in Orange County, NY. There are several trails leading into the park so potentially you could meet hikers coming from the opposite side.

It is undeveloped meaning you'd find occasional litter--tires, soda cans, plastic grocery shopping bags, etc. The lake is also not easy to get to--I had to create my own trail through thorny bushes on damp marshland walking on top of lose rocks and hollow logs that caved in under my weight and where rattlesnakes and other potentially dangerous creatures might inhabit.

On top of that, I had to watch out for hunters as a couple on horseback I met on the trail warned me. "Just keep talking to yourself," the man said. I suppose that is so hunters can tell I am no deer.

Smart advice, I thought. So I jabbered away.

Can't give any C&C because to me they look great...!

My favorite is #3...

Since I constantly talk to myself I'd proabably be safe just about anywhere I go...

I agree...#1 and #2 are very nice, with #1 appearing more "natural". Thanks for risking life and limb and for jabbering away.

Super pics as usual Vv. 3 is my fave, I love the rays from the sun, the warmth and the grass in the foreground.

Really nice shots. #3 is the best IMO.

Did you use some HDR here or are they from a single shot?
