Default Last stand

There's been talk about putting a new school at the entrance to my neighborhood, and in the last week or so, I've started seeing some activity. The most glaring is the trees that have been marked for removal. The fluorescent orange ribbons stand out very starkly against the brown of the trees. And there's so many of them.

*sigh* the march of progress.

I feel a little funny putting this picture in this forum, too. It's not the sweeping vistas or country cottages nestled in rolling hills I think of when I hear landscape photography. In 18 months, these trees will be gone, and it'll be perfectly manicured "landscape" done by an army of "landscape professionals" in their place.

Take care.

It may not be 'rolling hills', but, it Does make a Statement...more journalistic...and very appropriate and sad. We had a neighborhood tree removal all of a sudden...well, I have lived here 25 years and suddenly they decide the trees are a pain...and take them down...sheesh. They just didn't want to keep pruning them.
I digress, it is a good picture. With a perfect title.

+1 I agree with lisa. Too much has already been dine in the name of progress that has had an adverse effect on our planet. Obviously these trees are not making a profit for anyone......

lisalonewolf, hkmp50, thanks for the replies. Things going on "out there" are all well and good, but when it hits a little closer to home, it seems to be just that much more poignant.

Thanks again.
