Default New Years Eve Starry Night

Happy New Year everyone.

Last night of the year left me with one of my most favorite shots of the whole year.
Once again, many of you that saw my previous posts will recognize the location. After this photo i will be moving on to a new location, but i couldn't pass up this one last photo.

The night had been clear all evening, and when i got down there the clouds were starting to move in over the mountains, i figured all was lost because i was mainly going for the stars in the sky, but after seeing the clouds, to me it helped add to the photo.

Exposure was 37 seconds f/4 @ ISO 1600. Noise was reduced in Neat Image

Another photo from near where the first one was taken. This tree has always stood out to me, and i've always wanted to somehow incorporate it into a photo. So i tried a simple star tails photo to see how it would look.

Nice star trails...how long did you set the exposure?

The exposure for the second photo was f/6.3 @ ISO 1600 with 28 photos at 30 seconds each. The photos were then merged together in Photoshop CS5. I used the stack command and then each layer was set to "Lighten"
