That's a nice composition Walter. You can almost "read" it.

Well, thank you Ordo.
I see what you mean. It's a lovely spot by the river-banks and it so fits together. I guess it has most ingredients of a good composistion.

Best regards,
Walter

Another fine photo of your part of the world. Very peaceful....be glad for that. I was just wondering if those sail boats stay in the water during freeze up time or do they take them out?

Lovely shot, Walter. The river flow draws you into the scene.

Thanks, Kevin! :^)

About the sailboats and any other pleasur-boats during the winter.

No, most of them stay in the water, some freeze in (wooden boats mainly) and some don't (modern GRP).
The main thing is to prepare for the winter. Draining all fresh-water tanks, filling through-the-hull fittings with blue anti-freeze, as well as the engin's cooling-system. Maintained like this there is no harm.

The boats you see in the picture above are "live-aboard boat", meaning they act as living quarters on an all year round basis, with wooden stoves or paraffin- or diesel-stoves aboard for heath. This is why they are moored at this precise spot on the river. There is so much courrent there on the inside of the bend, that it very seldom freezes over.

Freeze-up time has been since the end of November last year, still is now, and will be for another 6 weeks.

Thank you for your kind word, Walter. I guess this is somehow the opposite of the "winter" where you live.

Picture postcard pretty Walter. The red adds a lovely contrast to the winter hues. Norway is certainly on my "bucket list".

Thank you, banksy!

Best regards,
Walter

P.S.: What's a "bucket-list"? Like toss into a bucket - or what?
:^)

Fabulous ... Almost looks like a painting ... or a Currier and Ives Winter Holiday card.
