Default A January Sunset at the Pier

It rained yesterday so we had some relatively cool temperatures +/- 60F. As the sky was beginning to clear, I went down to the pier hoping for a decent shot or two. What do you think?

Meanwhile the National Scholastic Surfing Association was completing a competition, despite some choppy waves and chilly water. Here is one of the last surfers out of the water. This shot was converted to sepia tone.

Hi Walter both are fantastic pictures.
My favourite would have to be no 1.

Man, Walter ... you always do such beautiful work! I like them both, for different reasons. The colors and 'atmosphere' of the first one draw me in to the scene; it's a place I'd like to be. I like the mood of the sepia one, particularly since it's the end of the day ... the sepia underscores that ... Great stuff!

#1 is my favourite! Great timing to capture the seagull, exposure which kept your sunbeams safe, composition which includes foreground, subject and background are all interesting.

I hope to send some snow down to you one of these days ;0)

Thanks for the thought, Spy, but I'll pass on that offer. Actually, we can see snow on our local mountains (45 miles away) from here...while we're enjoying 70 degree weather. Hard to beat that.

great series Walter.

absolutely love #1 with the seagull flying through the rays of the sun going through the clouds, just a classy and iconic shot.
