Default Turbulent, Cold River Water and Current!

As my wife and I were driving up the Highway 20 along side the Skagit River yesterday on a Photo taking expedition I spotted this section of water and I just had to pull over and capture it's beauty.

The little channel is only about 20 feet wide on the North side of a huge gravel bar, but man alive is it ever ripping! I thought it was pretty neat how the water was so clear, but had the whitish section in it.

That is beautiful scenery! 20 feet wide? yes, the whitish strip is interesting, wonder what causes that...something from the deep, er, maybe some kind of lighting distortion....

Thanks lisalonewolf! I think the whitish tint in the water is due to the water running over the rocks on the sand bar and then entering Oxygen rich water into the main steam of the current.

These photos were taken with a 17-40 wide angle lens. Hopefully this last photo will show you the width of the little channel.
