Default Camano beach

took the 5D and the new 24-135 out with me yesterday when my daughter and i went to Camano state park. i felt compelled to take a shot with the replacement lens, just to see how it worked. not much there to shoot, but i kinda liked the way the curve of the shore and the slope of the embankment all sort of converged in the distance... of course, with the dull, gray light and the relatively late hour (taken around 4 PM) for this time of year, it wasn't a really good test - i'll need to get out in better light to be sure, but so far it looks like the replacement lens is pretty comparable to the original.... 24mm, 1/25 @ f/8...

I think the darkening clouds work better than if it were a sunny day, try taking one from the same vantage point in sunny weather and compare.
Good shot all round. The curve of the shore and embankment does appeal.

I like it a lot. The cliff colours stand out and the shore pebbles add a nice texture.
Look forward to more shots with the new lens.

thanks! the "new" lens is actually an "eBay special", purchased as a replacement for my original Tamron 24-135 that croaked on me a couple of weeks ago. i considered a new lens, but there aren't many in that very useful "walk about" focal range, and the Canon 24-105L's are so bloody expensive, that i basically had little choice but to try to find another Tammy. they quit making that lens a couple of years ago, but the one i got is in like-new condition, and i picked it up for about 1/3 what it cost new, so i'm pretty pleased...

the lines of the cliff and beach come together well, and the textures are nice here.
