No's 1&4 are my faves, stunning colour - super well captured. Did you do any colour enhancing in pp?

Dyane,

Yes, I keep snapping Thank you. Very slight postprocessing (the upper part of the last picture and highlighting the swan that's barely visible) Went back to the RAW file for number three - the same as the .jpeg although the in camera setting was +1 saturation

Thanks for asking. Postprocessing is an ethical dilemma, to me anyhow

For some reason, I really love the halo of red surrounding the sun in the first shot.

May I ask what general settings you use to capture direct sunsets?

Torgny, another great series.

I also like 1 & 4 the most out of this set.

There is a good level of natural interest in each of these to keep one looking (without being too 'busy').

Good exposure and composition, and use of colour.

Enjoy your spring!

cjp87,

Yes, thank you. I really should be able to answer your question since I prefer backlit sceneries, and do a lot of it, but I can't do it.

Basically, take a lot of photos (thousands) with different light metering modes and then check the settings in EXIF. Also experiment with different focus points. You can then draw conclusions what works best for you

Perhaps you can start a thread on backlight photography in the Nature Photo Techniques section. There are a lot of people around

Paul,

Thank you. Yes. Very helpful. Spring - yes, it's around the corner, but it takes some weeks before the signs are clear enough. Hardest season for photography, for me anyhow
