I've stayed at that Hyatt...and I know its not located right next to GCC and the Pan Am (Not Metlife) building. Nice ominous touch! Hope you remain safe and out of harms way.

Stay safe and safe out of harms way. Don't risk your life for pictures during the storm. Stay safe and I hope it is not as bad for the cityu as they say it could be. I'd love to see after pictures if you take any.

Thank you, jelpee, Dave, JeannieBug. It's still windy but the rain has finally stopped. We slept through most of the storm in the night, waking up every now and then to hear the howling winds and look out the window, but thankfully we didn't lose power and there are no damages to our home. Later I'll try to go out and take some pictures. Hopefully there would still be some clouds.

#3) Irene is here.

#4) Another shot taken last Friday. (Jelpee, you just gave me an idea of cutting-and-pasting together different NYC buildings into one picture and see if people would notice. ).

#5) Another shot taken yesterday.

Excellent shots!!

Where happy to see that you and the rest of NY came through Irene without too much damage.

The news channels where making it sound as if the world was going to end.

Thanks, lomitamike. Yes, Irene was all we had on TV all day and all night long, the TV news crews working overtime. There were trees that smashed cars and cars swallowed by pavements, so I guess Irene was indeed strong. I drove around yesterday afternoon (Irene left in the morning) and saw plenty of debris on the road -- mostly tree branches as I live in the country -- and lots of flooding where I thought not possible. We're about 600-800 feet above sea level and on the slope up to the Catskills.

#6) Downed tree at corner of Wisner and Woodlawn Avenues in Middletown, NY.

#7) Flooded intersection at Fulton Avenue.

#8) What was yesterday a narrow stream...

#9) ...is now (virtually) a mighty river.

#10) Presbyterian Church in Scotchtown at nightfall.

Nice after shots... I would have done the same type of shots myself if I was in your place. We had 20mph winds and bout 2.5 inches of rain which did no damage locally other than small branches down and twigs........ So my images are boring......

Thanks for posting

Absolutely terrific shots and I like the commentary for each. As always, your shots are exceptional and get better with each posting. Thanks for sharing and glad too see everything but a few issues seems to be alright.
