Default Bohol, Philippines

I've been away for a while visiting the old country. These are pictures I took in Bohol, an island in the south that offers so much, much more than its famed Chocolate Hills.

Thank you, Wingman, paniolo, Square one.

Square one, we were told by our tour guide that the hills turn brown in the summer when the grass has dried, which is why it got its name, "Chocolate Hills".

On the way there, I asked our tour guide if it was possible to hike along the hills themselves. He said something like, not really, then added, but some ride on their ATVs. I then realized what he meant by "not really" was more like, not generally advised. Because of the hot climate, hiking is not really a leisure activity among the locals. Instead, people walk long distances through hills and whatnot out of necessity.

What he didn't tell me, perhaps to surprise me, was that the viewing platform was actually on top of one such hill. So you view the Chocolate Hills surrounding you and get to climb on top of one, too. Really nice.

Thank you, SIMON40, Square one, hanalwala.

hanalwala, no I did not use Photomatix. I used Dynamic Photo HDR. The "Photomatix-look" (grunge without the "smoky" side-effect) however, was created by Topaz Adjust, specifically its Details' "Boost" slider.
