Default Singing Hill sand dunes at Gansu, China

A few pictures of the sand dunes taken on a nice day. This is an a-must visiting spot on the Silk Road tour.

Amazing shots WCKSer, I guess the orange covers are to keep out the sand. What was the temperature?

Thanks, Steve! The temperature cooled down significantly when we were there as it was near the end of autumn. I believed it was around 55 degrees F. This part of China is popular because it is near the Buddhist caves of Donhuang which is around 1600 years old. We went there after visiting the sand dunes. Unfortunately they didn't allow people to take pictures there during the guided tour, so the only pictures taken were outside the gate of the caves.

Yes, I did rent a pair of orange boots for $10 RMB to prevent the sand getting into my shoes and also made it easier to walk on the sand. These sand dunes are awesome, I have never seen anything that huge. This also the main attraction of the tour.

First shot is great -- perfect time of the day with those shadows from the people climbing up.

All very interesting shots, but love that first one. Really shows the massive size of the dunes.

The dunes are awesome and the weather was great that day. Still you could feel the fine sand in the air and that was why most people wore a dust mast especially when you were taking the camel ride.
