for your replies. I lightened the shadows in the foreground. Does that make it HDR? (Rhetorical question)

A not so well thought out concept - Testing it against it's contradiction, Low Dynamic Range, renders the concept meaningless. It carries no information, I think

It boiles down to "A HDR photo is what the HDR photographer calls a HDR photo" - that's a "circulus vitiosus", circular reasoning
