I took this photo a few days back in the little village of Hebden Bridge.

The photo was taken with a Fuji S5000 in RAW mode.

Hope you like it

And this is a view from the riverbank at Ashbourne on the water, Derbyshire, UK.

The Fuji S5000 seems to get quite a lot of bad press due to its high compression, but I take all my photos in raw mode and love the vivid colours it produces.

The image has lost a lot of detail due to compression for the web site, can anyone suggest a way to show a bigger photo without compressing it to hell?
Any comments would be appreciated, as this is my first attempt and am learning slowly

Nice one, I live not too far from Hebden Bridge but don't think i've ever been. My wife has been a few times and said it's a lovely place and it shows in your photo. :-)

Hi Sid, I like your photos! I really like the first one. I have a Fuji S5000 too, and I'm kind of perplexed about the bad press as well. Sure it's not a digital SLR, but it costs 1/3 of the price too, and I think it takes great pictures for the price. I also agree with you about the colors. I am really happy with my camera purchase. As for the compression question, I'm not much help there, I'm still new to being able to take over a one megapixel picture, so I've been experimenting with that too.

Very nice tranquil scene. The details and color saturation are very good.

Aloha

Hi Guitarman,

Thanks for you positive comments on my photo's.

Its true what you say about the Fuji, for the money its a top choice.

I have just had the first picture (canal) printed outby a internet based printers (www.photobox.co.uk) on 12"x8" gloss paper, and it looks like its been taken with a "decent" 35mm film camera.

I don't think I'll out grow the S5000 for a few years and when I do it'll be another Fuji I choose.

My name is Chris by the way, Sid is my pet parrot. take a look at http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...amp;forum_id=6(this pic was taken with my Fuji 2800)

Take Care

Chris

Cheers for that Selvin!

I can't take any good photos today though, it's pouring down in North West England
