Shot taken at Castle Lake in California, elevation is about 4000 feet. This is a small lake that formed as a result of volcanic activities many years ago. The water is icy cold and clear as glass. Normally, I wouldn't place the horizon in the middle of the shot, but in this case I was hoping to capture the reflections of the mountain snow on the water.

Canon DRebel, f/5.6, 1/500 Sec, Tamron 28-75 Di (44mm)

Original shot in RAW mode, processed in Capture One and Photoshop CS. I used free transform to level the waterline, took out a color cast, and made a slight level adjustment to bring out the contrast. Resized for web output and sharpened with Intellisharpen.

Thanks Klaus and Jack :!:

That's an actual reflection on the water. The lake was very glassy...just a slight ripple from winds.

Very tranquil...

Did you partake of the waters, Ohenry?

I put my hand in the water at the shoreline and it was probably about 45 degrees, and that was at the shoreline! I decided NOT to go skinny-dipping :?

Zowie. Seriously beautiful photo. Reminds me of a Bev Doolittle painting.
