Thanks aladyforty, the first one was taken when the sky on that particular day was really doing amazing things, I wish that I had a means of capturing the whole sky at the time.I suppose a video might have worked, maybe something to plan for.

Hi Jake - you caught a sunset with some great color. Like Julie, I like the second picture more.

Actually, you do have the means to capture a greater swath of sky at moments like this. You should be able to take several pictures, each overlapping with the previous and next, and then assemble them using an image stitching program (PSE2 has a stitch capability) with the result being a panorama.
