Yesterday on my country courier run, more than half of the trip (about a 9 hour drive) was through these Smokey conditions. Two houses were lost due to this fire which started in extremely windy weather and the temperature was around 36C. This time last year in the same area, two woman died when they got trapped in the paddock by a wild fire. Scary stuff!I notice the whole color of the landscape changed so shot these to show hubby when I got home.

The colors are as I filmed them

This was the driving conditions for some time, the smoke was thicker after these shots were taken.

Hi Julie;

I think the last shot shows the smoke effect best. I think we'd have to be familiar with your landscape to really appreciate the effects of this fire. They are great shots, though.

Regards,

Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada

Not being a world traveler I keep forgetting just because ours is over that's not the same everywhere. Julie the last photo is quite dynamic with the explanation that it's smoke.

Take care, Suzan

Thanks for the comments, the fire is still burning today, one woman with burns and a lot of farm animals had to be destroyed as well. Not a good time for our farmers.

Do you have an aerial fire brigade like the people in the USA (mainly California) do?

I ask coz I want to become a firefighting pilot. That's my main career ambition.
