I've just purchased a 19" flat screen lcd monitor, and it is quite an adjustment, I've just realised how "monitor dependant" the colors, sharpness, contrast and all the other qualitiesof a picture are. Here is my first rendition edited with the new monitor. [Well, using the new monitor]
The shot was taken a while ago, in fact the tree in the distance is the same tree in the African Sunset pic posteda few days ago, the grass was still greenhere, this was also a throw-away which i thought i'd resurrect and see what comes out of it.

Any comments, good or bad

It's a wonderful photo, except for the "lump" just right of center. If it were just the tree, all alone over there...wow. Maybe the "lump" is something I can't recognize because it's so dark.. If it is something special, it still competes with the tree....

Thanks mactek, that "Lump" is a mountain/hill about3 miles from the tree, the storm shower is beating against thehill side. this IS my concern about the monitor issue, on my new monitorit is quite clear and not so dark as to be unrecognisable, but that doesn't help if I post things that can't be recognisedbyothers.

Thanks again for the comments, I do appreciate them [both posts :G]

Here is another shot taken with just the tree, although the storm shower is not in it. The clouds and sky color and grass contrasts look nice to me. I should have placed the tree to the side of the pic though.

Good editing! I think the lump adds interest to the photo.

Lcds are a bit different, I think there are some programs or websites that allow you to calibrate a screen properly.

One more for the road - mactek, if you look in, the "Lump" is a bit more recognisable as a hill

Great shots here Jake! Love the "lump" and tree from afar. Amazing country you live in. The first shot seems almost absurd to the eye with a mountain and one single tree growing out of seemingly nowhere. I stared at this for quite some time. Mesmerizing really. Keep up the great work. Cheers......thekman.
