armadilloshield,

That is one fine camera you are using.....or is it that you are one fine photographer with YEARS of experience?

Where were you when you took this shot? Were you on top of the tallest building around? And, would you mind telling me...step by step what settings you used to take this GRAND picture?

I am very new to photography and would dearly love to be able to take such a fine photo. I have a Nikon 8800 but don't know how to do much with it....Yet. Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

Divertwo, thanks for viewing.

Kodak V550 just a small compact camera (5MP and 3x optical zoom) and I'm also not a real pro photographer (more like a hobby) :-)

If I tell you how I took that shot, you will laugh :-)
I took this photo from 10 storey apartment opposite the city. Very simple just set the shutter speed to 8 seconds and set self-timer on. Since I'm at my friend's house, so I didn't bring tripod as well, just put the camera at the window. That's all, nothing special. Cause V550 don't have any manual control as well.

Nikon 8800 is one fine camera, 8MP, 10x optical zoom with Image stabilizer, and more manual control, I believe you can make wonder withthat camera

BTW, how much you purchase that camera? I'm still looking for SLR like camera, but still haven't find a good one yet.

armadilloshield,

Thank you so much for telling me how you took the city photo. It sure looked like you were up high from the looks of the photo.

I am not very good at taking photos, but I sure do want to learn. I loved the night shot you made. That was Great.

Did you use the "S" setting on your camera? I know how to set the timer to work in 10 seconds, but I have no idea how to set the 8 second shutter speed.

I bought the Nikon from buydig.com. I have had the camera for 6+ months now. I gave $758.00 for it back then. I think it is about $808.00 now with some accesories, 1 gb card, etc.

This was the 4th camera my family has purchased from them. They have been good to trade with. If I buy another camera I will buy it there.

My Son has just orered a Nikon D-50.After viewing the photos that Bob H.(Bob Hammitt(sp)) on stevesforumstook he was convinced to get this camera. He is an avid sportsman so he will make good use of it. Take a look at the D-50.

Thank you again for all the good information.

Respectfully,

divertwo
