Just took two of these photos a few minutes ago. Never tried this type of shot before. One photo was normal exposure while the other was obiviously over exposed. [on purpose]. Rather dramatic I thought. A day time picture also given as a point of reference.

I think the over-exposed one works rather well: maybe somewhere between the two, or some kind of blended image would be the optimum?

They are allimpressive. Just me, but I like the 1st one better - I think it gets across the idea that the mountain was on fire better (by the way, the smoke blew all the way to Santa Monica). I hope you didn't get evacuated!

The fire is still raging this morning. Fortunately I live NW of the fire and it is blowing to the SW.
