I've shared this with the Panasonic forum but wanted to post it here too because previously I posted another shot of this lighthouse that didn't receive much response. Well, that indicates that the shot didn't work as well as I hoped it would. Live and learn.

This shot does not have the dramatic clouds that the other one did. Also, I applied an emboss filter. I don't usually play with editing filters much, but I rather liked the way this one worked.

What do you think? Does it work or should I stay away from the filters?

Hi, I am not sure about the filter question, but my thoughts on the composition are that the lighthouse looks squished, as you took the photo horozontally. I wonder if the shot was taken vertically what it would have done.

Although I have those thoughts, I still think It's a very pretty shot...

I didn't think a lot of the embossing since my first thought was that it looked a bit like oversharpening.

The shot is done quite well.

From a personal point of view I would have perhaps taken the shot showing the lighthouse looking out towards the water with less land on the right and more water to the left to emphasize that fact that the lighthouse is a sentinel looking over the water.

Aloha

The texture of the first photo makes it look like a painted wall. Very interesting effect caused by the filter. I like the photo but it's a bit too blueish. So, I took the liberty to warm it up and cropa bit. Hope you don't mind.

Also seems to be slanting slightly. The edit is a great job, but I think the original has its own merits. Regards. Jaki

I like the picture. As for the texture, I think it is ok for the painting look, maybe a little to strong on the texture. All you can do is try something to see how it works. Keep playing with the filters to see what you come up with

LH,

I like your original post over all the others. Art is in the eye of not only the beholder but also in the eye of the creator. I don't fool with filters much but like the painted wall look of your original post.

Bill,

Thanks for your encouragement.

Jaki:

I thought it looked somewhat tilted too, but my editing program assured me it's straight. I guess I have to sit up straighter to see it properly!
