And now for something completely different: on my way to my usual riverbank walk, I pass this wall all covered in moss. It's a leftover from the industrial revolution - there's a long abondoned quarry and silvermine nearby - and it's a really big piece of stonework. It's so covered in moss though that you can hardly see the stones anymore! I'm actually pretty impressed that it's still standing: a good 12 feet high, all dry stone (no mortar or concrete), and unused and unmaintained for a couple hundred years.

Anyway, I've struggled to get a good image of this wall, but hopefully this one does it justice.

The wall provides an appealing texture, indeed.
However, I could only realize I was looking at a wall thanks to your useful and extensive narration.
I understand that the location has a great potential for further shots, even a photographer's dream, according to your description. So, please go for it..
