There are only a few weeks in the year when the sun sets in the right place to be able to do this, like the title says, I just just couldn't take my eyes off this one!

A swift change in position, and the suns a little lower now:

And finally, the sun almost set behind the church on the hill now.

John.

John as ever stunning!!!!! Where were you standing??? I know there is one good vantage point on the edge of the road from Tavistock, or did you take a walk to get the position?

Mark.

Thanks Mark: there's a dead end road off the Tavistock-Princetown road that runs along the base of Cox Tor to Higher-Godsworthy. It's really useful for stuff like this, because you can drive up and down until the sun's in just the right location: it pretty hard to judge exactly where it'll set, so being able to relocate quickly is a big bonus - even a change of a couple hundred yards can make quite a big difference - it's quite surprising really.

Thanks for the comments,

John.
