took a drive today to Mt. Rainier, at just over 14,000 feet, it's the 5th highest peak in the continental U.S. gorgeous day, not a cloud in the sky, and the mountain was beautiful! these shots are pretty much straight from the camera, except resizing. i'll probably tweak them a bit before making prints...

here's the mountain from the road to the visitors' center, at about 6,000 ft...



looking back down the valleys...



Reflection Lake... normally clear by this time of year, but this year, still half frozen over! :sad: when it's clear, and there's no wind, the mountain is reflected perfectly in the mirror-calm water. it's spectacular at sunrise, and in the autumn when the leaves are starting to turn.... this time, i was only able to get a partial reflection. i'll have to go back in August or September...

actually, temps were in the upper 70's, even at those elevations. great place to get sunburned in a hurry! :G
