As per the other two, bright white skies don't help either (not your fault) they are the scourge of UK photographers.

I find polarising filters can help.

I've even put my sunglasses over the lens to remove the glare of bright white skies.

This picture is well composed by the way. Not a particularly interesting pic but you've made the best of the composition.

Funny, by simply obeying a few simple rules and getting the composition right can turn ordinary hoilday snaps into decent pics.
